ZKDR Distance, Angular Size and Phantom Cosmology

چکیده
The influence of mass inhomogeneities on the angular size-redshift test is investigated for a large class of flat cosmological models driven by dark energy plus a cold dark matter component. The results are presented in two steps. First, the mass inhomogeneities are modeled by a generalized Zeldovich-Kantowski-DyerRoeder (ZKDR) distance which is characterized by a smoothness parameter α(z) and a power index γ, and, second, we provide a statistical analysis to angular size data for a large sample of milliarcsecond compact radio sources. By marginalizing over the characteristic angular size l, fixing ΩM = 0.26 and assuming a Gaussian prior on ω, i.e., ω = −1± 0.3, the best fit values are ω = −1.03 and α = 0.9. By assuming a Gaussian prior on the matter density parameter, i.e., ΩM = 0.3± 0.1, the best fit model for a phantom cosmology with ω = −1.2 occurs at ΩM = 0.29 and α = 0.9 when we marginalize over the characteristic size of the compact radio sources. The results discussed here suggest that the ZKDR distance can give important corrections to the so-called background tests of dark energy.

متن کاملAngular Diameter Distance Measurement with Galaxy Clustering in the Multipole Space
The shape of the angular power spectrum of galaxies in the linear regime is defined by the horizon size at the matter-radiation equality. When calibrated by cosmic microwave background measurements, the shape of the clustering spectrum can be used as a standard ruler to estimate angular diameter distance as a function of redshift at which galaxy clustering is measured. We apply the proposed cos...
متن کاملCardassian Expansion: Constraints from Compact Radio Source Angular Size versus Redshift Data
The “Cardassian Expansion Scenario” was recently proposed by Freese & Lewis as an alternative to a cosmological constant in explaining the current accelerating universe. In this paper we investigate observational constraints on this scenario from recent measurements of the angular size of high-z compact radio sources compiled by Gurvits and coworkers. We show that the allowed intervals for n an...
متن کاملReconstructing Cosmological Matter Perturbations using Standard Candles and Rulers
For a large class of dark energy (DE) models, for which the effective gravitational constant is a constant and there is no direct exchange of energy between DE and dark matter (DM), knowledge of the expansion history suffices to reconstruct the growth factor of linearized density perturbations in the non-relativistic matter component on scales much smaller than the Hubble distance. In this pape...
متن کاملA Phantom Study for the Optimization of Image Quality and Radiation Dose for Common Radiographic Examinations in Digital Radiography
Introduction: Phantom studies facilitate the implementation of radiation dose surveillance as a function of radiographic technical parameters for minimizing patient radiation dose. The evidence of such investigations can then be used to evaluate technical parameters used in the radiographic procedures to reduce radiation dose without compromising the image quality. Material and Methods: This ex...
